Joel Ssenyonyi
My name is Joel Ssenyonyi, I am a journalist & broadcaster with NTV Uganda & 104.1 Power Fm. I was at Trinity Primary School in 1999, as part of the pioneer Primary Seven class. Trinity gave me my first ever experience of boarding school, which got me mixing and mingling a lot more with fellow pupils. School was always a time to look forward to, it was a home away from home, not so much because some students & school staff were my close relatives, but because the setting of the school was homely, and yet provided an atmosphere conducive enough for us to engage in serious academic work. As is many times the case with pupils, mischief was never out of reach for us.
We however always got straightened, sometimes sternly, by the teachers & administrators, all in a bid to make us better. I became the pioneer Head boy of the school, something which was to a great extent uncharted territory for me. This position came with loads of lessons for me, and paved the way for numerous leadership engagements I have had over the years. The work I do largely involves news anchoring and hosting talk shows, a skill I honed right from Trinity during school debates and other activities. I am glad I had the opportunity to go through Trinity Primary School. I would do it all over again!
